The extreme ripeness of the fruit and the higher use of American oak causes this wine to explode in the mouth. Pour into your largest decanter, give it a vigorous swirl and have at it.

Tasting Notes
Colors range from vibrant, glowing red to almost opaque purple, aromas from red peppercorn, flowers, and sweet dried herbs to black plum, black licorice, tar, and smoked meat, and structures from clean, bright, and focused to heavy, soft, and sweet.
Winemaker Notes
The Cabernet Sauvignons from our Vineyard Block Series take the ir names and are sourced from prized vineyard blocks and areas of our property. They showcase the myriad flavors and structures expressed by this single varietal at our mountain estate. Colors range from vibrant, glowing red to almost opaque purple, aromas from red peppercorn, flowers, and sweet dried herbs to black plum, black licorice, tar, and smoked meat, and structures from clean, bright, and focused to heavy, soft, and sweet. The 2008 growing season was marked by the devastating spring frosts that ‘thinned’ the potential crop for the year. We lost close to 25 tons of Cabernet Sauvignon alone. The vineyard blocks that survived produced tiny crops of tiny grapes that made incredibly intense wines. The 2008 Native Son is the monster of the vintage and unabashedly new world in style. Partly due to the extreme ripeness of the fruit and the higher use of American oak, this wine explodes in the mouth. Pour into your largest decanter, give it a vigorous swirl and have at it.
