Dry, rich and dramatically structured, this cellarworthy wine has impressive flavors of blackberries and cassis, with earthier notes of black olive tapenade and cedarwood. Could easily score even higher down the road."

"Ripeness takes a fairly prominent role here and imparts a slight twist of chocolate to the wine's very rich and outgoing aromas and extracted flavors alike, but curranty fruit remains its master throughout. There is a slight acid uptick to the finish that seems to accentuate its considerable tannins, and, again, a good five to seven years seems the minimal wait required before this one starts to round into shape."

The 2006 Villa Vista is a Cabernet for Brunello lovers. It opens with red apple skin and toasted sunflower seed aromas. With a little air, aromas of caramel, nougat, and red currants show themselves. This wine attacks the front and mid-palate, then spreads out evenly in the mouth.

Production Notes
The 2006 vintage produced wines with amazing fruit purity and complexity. Yields were slightly below normal, so the vines didn't have to struggle to produce fruit with great flavor concentration. The 28-day Cabernet harvest gave us a diverse range of wine styles from which to choose our Villa Vista Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine lots with spice and red fruit aromas and a focused front palate provided the basis for the blend after one year in the barrel. Repeated barrel tastings over the next 14 months narrowed the blend down to just 14 barrels.
