| Winemaker Notes: | Danielli is the flagship wine of Kuleto Estate. It is the purest and most dramatic expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from our remote ranch in the rugged mountains of eastern Napa Valley.
The 2007 growing season progressed slowly and evenly without the typical heat-spikes that can force a winemaker’s hand to pick sooner than desired. For Cabernet it featured a 25-day harvest that provided a diverse range of flavors and styles. Overall, it was an incredibly successful year that yielded small quantities of uniformly dark, strongly varietal, big-statured wines. We began assembling Danielli during the rest spring after harvest, tasting every lot and barrel to isolate potential candidates. We were looking for those rare wines that stood above their peers, the individual barrels that possessed the “it” factor. The essential requirements were depth, persistent and true aromatics, concentration and meaty tannins. Our 2007 Danielli carries a deep red hue. The aroma is a heady mix of ultra-ripe black plums, black currants, licorice and bay leaves. The mouth is overtly subliminal with avors that thick, rm, juicy, luscious and imposing. It has a sweetness that makes it immediately appealing, yet it boasts an underlying structure that will allow it to age for years – if you can wait that long. |
