Roses and toasted almonds come to mind on first whiff. Later those of orange marmalade, wild fennel and jasmine tea appear. A perfect food wine.
Unabashedly Californian. Huge wild and grapey aromas pumped out by huge alcohol, huge sweet-spicy and tarry flavors, huge melted tannins. If you think bigger is better, this is the Amazonian God or Goddess.
Our 2010 “Villa Vista” pumps out an amazing volume of exotic red fruits and flowers (red currants and passion flower).
Exhibits a fascinating mix of aromas and flavors with a beautiful tension between fresh and cooked fruits, floral notes and meatiness, and bright, weighty acidity.
Lemony without being citrusy, e.g. it smells more of lemon verbena or citronella than lemon rind. The Francois Frere French oak gives it a kiss of toast and a long creaminess that isn’t heavy.
Black cherries, cherry blossom, lavender honey, and orange rind are beautifully melded in the aroma. The mouth is creamy, bright, and has pleasing gentle warmth that carries on for minutes.
